Brookside Equipment Sales, established in March 1974, began as a modest importer of used agricultural equipment. Initially, the business focused on bringing in containers of used equipment from Europe, reconditioning it, and selling the units in the Texas Gulf Coast area. As demand grew, the founding partners secured a permanent location at 6359 Long Drive in Houston, opening their retail facility on August 16, 1976. Recognizing the potential in retailing agricultural equipment, Brookside Equipment Sales partnered with John Deere Company in January 1977, becoming an authorized John Deere Consumer Products dealer. This partnership expanded their customer base to include homeowners, "Weekend Farmers," as well as governmental and commercial markets. With John Deere's diverse line of consumer and agricultural products and a commitment to providing top-notch products and support, Brookside quickly became a market leader in Southeast Texas. As Houston experienced rapid growth in the 1970s and early 1980s, Brookside Equipment Sales expanded as well. They opened a store in Spring, Texas, in 1979 and another in Jersey Village in 1984, strategically positioning these locations in high-growth suburban areas to better serve the entire Houston-Harris County market. In 1987, they opened a fourth retail store in LaMarque, Texas, catering to the growing Galveston County suburbs south of Houston. In 1986, John Deere Company expanded its product line to include a Golf and Turf Division, and Brookside Equipment Sales rose to the challenge by creating a new Golf and Turf sales division. In 2000, Brookside was recognized as John Deere's #1 distributor in North America. When the Houston Astros moved to Minute Maid Park, they chose John Deere Turf equipment for field maintenance, with Brookside providing dedicated support. Brookside Equipment Sales continued to grow, acquiring Rice Belt Implement in Katy, Texas, in 2002, becoming their fifth retail store to serve the Fort Bend and Waller County markets. They opened a facility in southwest Houston in December 2005 to cater to the high-growth Fort Bend County suburbs. The acquisition of DER Equipment in Angleton, Texas, in 2009 added a seventh member to the dealership family. In 2015, Brookside relocated the LaMarque store to League City and the Jersey Village store to a new location on West Rd. This year also saw the addition of an eighth location in Hockley, Texas, through the acquisition of Foster's Farm and Equipment Supply. In 2017, Brookside moved its Houston Mosley location to a state-of-the-art facility on South Sam Houston Pkwy, which now serves as the corporate headquarters. In August 2019, Brookside purchased Texas Outdoor Power Sales, adding their ninth location in Conroe, Texas.
